Whatever the format, in British English, dates are usually written in the order day — month — yearwhile in American English they are written month — day — year.Agv k1 visor change
For British English, day followed by month followed by year, the 13th day of the month April, yearmight be written in full in order of complexity :. These are all possible, and a matter of choice. The more complicated the style of date, the more formal it is. In the later examples, the and of are optional, but if you do use them you must add both the and of ; it would be incorrect to say only 13th of April or the 13th April.
In British English, commas are not necessary although can be used to separate month an year, as a matter of style. If you wish to add the name of the day, it should come before the date, and should either be separated by a comma or joined by the and of.
In American English, the month comes before the day, which means you cannot use of and rarely use ordinal numbers adding st, nd, rd, th. Commas should also be used to separate the day and year, and again the name of the day should come at the beginning. The date should therefore be written:.
In both British and American English, the date can be written in abbreviated forms, either as a group of numbers separated by hyphens, slashes or periodsor with the first few letters of the month.
The date should be in day — month — year or month — day — year format depending on British or American use. In some circumstances, you may find the year comes before the month, then the day a reverse of the standard British format. This is not common in English speaking countries, except in some technical texts. Choosing which style you write the date in depends on how formal you wish the document to be, and how much space you have.

Dates in Written English
Dates are traditionally and most commonly written in day—month—year DMY order: . Formal style manuals discourage writing the day of the month as an ordinal number for example "31st December"except with an incomplete reference, such as "They set off on 12 August and arrived on the 18th". When saying the date, it is usually pronounced using "the", then the ordinal number of the day first, then the preposition "of", then the month for example "the thirty-first of December".
The month-first form for example "December the third" was widespread until the mid-twentieth-century and remains the most common format for newspapers across the United Kingdom. All-numeric dates are used in notes and references, but not running prose. They can be written in several forms: . To remedy this, the month is sometimes written in Roman numeralsa format common in some European countries: 2. The ISO format adopted as British Standard BS ISO is unambiguous and machine-readable, and increasingly popular in technical, scientific, financial, and computing contexts.
Weeks are generally referred to by the date on which they start, with Monday often treated as the first day of the week, for example "the week commencing 5 March". ISO week numbers are found in diaries and are used in business.

The day—month—year order is also used in modern Welsh : [ citation needed ]. The month—day—year order for example " Mai 20, " was previously more common: it is usual to see a Welsh month—day—year date next to an English day—month—year date on a bilingual plaque from the latter half of the 20th century. The year can be read as either mil naw naw naw thousand nine nine nine or un naw naw naw one nine nine nine. Both the hour and hour notations are used in the United Kingdom: .
The hour notation is used in timetables and on most digital clocks, but hour notation is still widely used in ordinary life.
The hour notation is used more often than in North America — transport timetables use it exclusively, as do most legal documents — but not as commonly as in much of the non-English-speaking world. It is rare to use the hour format when speaking; is colloquially spoken as "half past nine" or "nine thirty" rather than "twenty-one thirty". Like North America but unlike mainland Europe, a leading zero is used for the hour of the hour format, as in read "oh eight thirty".
To separate the hours, minutes and seconds, either a point or a colon can be used. For hour time, the point format for example "1. The more descriptive revision of New Hart's Rules concedes that the colon format "is often seen in British usage too", and that either style "is acceptable if applied consistently. The time-of-day abbreviations which are generally lowercase only are handled in various conflicting styles, including "a.
In hour time, a colon is internationally standard as in "".There are two principal ways to write a date: by using entirely numbers, or by using a combination of words and numbers. There are also two standards for writing dates: the American English standard and the British English standard.
In American English, the month always precedes the day. In British English, the month follows the date. This holds no matter whether one writes the date by using numbers only or numbers and words. Note that, in American English, there is a comma before the year, but not in British English.
In the numerical format, the existence of the two standards can lead to a misinterpretation of the date. For instance, an Englishmen will interpret as 7 Maywhile an American will interpret it as 5 July It is therefore preferable to write the name of the month.
The weekday always comes first and is separated from the rest of the date by a comma, for example, Tuesday, May 7, American ; or Tuesday, 7 May British. Your email address will not be published.

Our family of 8 had an experience of lifetime in an absolutely beautiful place. Our guide for the trip, was outstanding. He was clear, informative, and positive. It was easy to see how reliable and responsible he is and how important it was for all of his travelers to have a good time. He went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a good experience. I loved the balance of having an overview tour for each city along with time to explore on our own.
That was a great balance. I also appreciated the absence of unexpected pressure or expense to add on additional transportation or side tours that some tour packages market. And I appreciated the absence of pressure to tip tour guides and drivers. In some countries there is high specific pressure to pay certain amounts to those workers. I prefer the staff to be paid well up front and to leave tips optional.
The support that Cicci and her colleagues provided was outstanding. We had a few minor things that needed to be adjusted during our trip and we received immediate and prompt service. All questions were addressed quickly and when changes were required, all our requests were met with a willing attitude. The trip was wonderful and it was nice to know that we had someone to contact should we have encountered any problems.
We were very pleased with the service provided by our travel consultant, Sofia. She was very prompt in replying to all our queries. We enjoyed the itinerary where different experiences were offered - various train rides and cruises. The hotels were good, all centrally located and spacious with very good breakfasts provided. Everything is planned for with detailed information, maps and vouchers. All we needed to do was present ourselves at the various venues.
